Hulahula River
A popular river for raft trips, the Hulahula begins in glaciers of the Romanzof Mountains, flows west and then 100 miles north, through a valley between Mt. Chamberlin and Mt. Michelson, to Camden Bay. The name "Hulahula" is actually of Hawaiian origin; it was introduced by whalers of the late 19th century (Orth, Dictionary of Alaska Place Names, 1967, p. 436). On the west side of the Hulahula near Kikiktat Mountain is an informal landing strip heavily used as a staging area for raft trips and a refueling point for aircraft.
